Biography at time of election

Dr Peter Crawford is a chemist who, after a period working in private industry, moved into the public sector.

He has made significant contributions to the development of policy in urban and environmental fields based on the effective use and understanding of contemporary science and technology.

After serving with the Commonwealth Government and the OECD he became Director of the New South Wales State Pollution Control Commission and then General Manager of the (Sydney) Metropolitan Water Sewerage and Drainage Board.

In each of these posts he has made an outstanding contribution to policy development and the management of complex organisations heavily involved with science and technology as well as with commercial and industrial matters.
