Biography at time of election

Professor Darvall has made an outstanding contribution to engineering in Australia and the World in both research achievement and leadership in engineering education.

His early years in consulting engineering practice and research in a number of countries and adding a Diploma of Education to his Engineering Doctorate and National Presidency of the Federation of Australian University Staff Association, provided the background to the achievements which were to come.

These have been in the form of some fifty published papers, three books and presentations in a foreign language, the inspirational and innovative leadership as Dean of an engineering school which is extraordinarily strong in teaching, research and involvement, at the highest level, in professional practice, the Chairmanship of the first UNESCO sponsored International Centre for Engineering Education and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research) at Monash University.
