Biography at time of election

Peter Dowd is an established world leader in geostatistics and mathematical geology, primarily in the areas of mineral resource evaluation, geological modelling, hydrocarbon reservoir characterisation and the characterisation of rock masses for environmental applications such as the disposal of hazardous wastes. Related aspects of his work include contributions to the application of operations research within the mining industry, to mineral economics and to mine finance and valuation. He has held senior academic positions in the UK and more recently in Australia. He is a fellow of the UK Royal Academy of Engineering and a Past-President of The Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
