Professor Hodgson has established a world-class engineering research and teaching facility at Deakin University during the past fifteen years, and built an important technological base in advanced manufacturing technology serving the broader Australian engineering community. He has attracted some 300 world-class scientists and research engineers from many countries to Deakin and is currently Australia's leading proponent of advanced materials development and innovative manufacturing technologies. He has personally attracted some $20 million in collaborative research funding, and assisted numerous Australian companies adopt new manufacturing technologies. He has an international research reputation in his field.
