Peter Hoj, throughout his career, has played a pivotal role in the development and dissemination of wine technology in Australia. The Australian Wine Research Institute, under his direction, was an important factor in the expansion of Australia's exports - which trebled during Peter's tenure - from $800 million pa to $2.5 billion in just five years. His effectiveness as a scientist and advocate of research has been recognised by the Boerhinger medal for outstanding research achievement, and by appointment as a private member to the Prime Minister's Science, Engineering and Innovation Council multiple times.
