Dr Peter Tyree AM FTSE is a noted electrical engineer and co-founder and former Executive Chairman and CEO of the Tyree Group, one of Australia’s most respected private companies and a major Australian producer of high voltage apparatus for Australia’s electricity supply industry – transformers in particular.

The Tyree Group supports the Tyree Foundation by giving, each year, up to half its profits to the Foundation. The Foundation was started in the 1970s, is one of Australia’s leading philanthropic organisations, and is chaired by Peter’s sister Robyn Fennell (nee Tyree). The Foundation is dedicated to educational advancement, particularly in science, engineering and biomedical engineering. It is also a significant benefactor to the advancement of disadvantaged communities in Australia.

In 2019, Peter was appointed a Member (AM) of the Order of Australia for significant service to engineering and to education.
