Dr Robertson has made oustanding contributions to the development of Australia's industrial and publicly funded ICT R&D capability, including driving the success of CISRA, Canon's Australian R&D subsidiary, in developing globally deployed consumer and industrial technologies. CISRA grew under his strategic direction over a 10-year period from 80 to over 330 staff with an annual turnover of $50 million and became a major contributor of Australian generated patented intelectual property. At CSIRO he led the development over eight years of strong commercially successful technology groups in image processing, graphics, visualisation and human-computer interaction. At NICTA he is leading the R&D commercialisation capability.
