Dr. Every's management career in the steel industry has been distinguished by major technological contributions such as the introduction of innovative processing methods for the in-line galvanising and surface coating of steel construction tubing.

At present he is in charge of all BHP Steel's overseas activities, including the development of a $500M (US) join venture in Ohio, USA. As Group General Manager of the International Division his responsibilities include 45 manufacturing plants worldwide, all BHP's steel exports and the licensing of the company's very important sheet coating technology.
