Biography at time of election

Mr Robin Marrett spent 24 years in the oil industry following graduation as a Chemical Engineer in Adelaide. He progressed through technical and planning departments of the first refinery to be built in South Australia. After promotion through Mobil Oil office in Melbourne, he moved to manager of planning in the UK in 1981. Two years later he became Chairman and Chief Executive in Hong Kong and
then for 3 years in New Zealand subsidiaries of Mobil.
From New Zealand in 1987 he was selected as the new General Manager of the Electricity Trust of South Australia. He has made a major impact on the
management with strategic business plans, simplification of divisions, rationalisation of generating sites and overhaul of the coal mining activity.
During this time he has engaged in significant national activities. He is
Inaugural Chairman of the Electrical Supply Association of Australia and member of the Australian National Electricity Grid Management Council and numerous other bodies.
