Profssor Stanton has been closely associated with the development of Australia's information technology sector
and the growth of the computer science discipline.
He has an international reputation for his contributions to computer science, principally in artificial intelligence and parallel computing. His contributions include academic publications, research student supervision, and project leadership for international collaborative projects involving Australian industry.
Professor Stanton was the foundation Dean of Engineering and Information Technology and was recently appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at ANU.
He has been an invited member of Government, research and academic committees.
