Dr Sandland is an internationally distinguished applied Statistician who has made significant contributions to Industrial Statistics, both through his personal research and through his leadership as Chief of the CSIRO Division of Mathematics and Statistics.
After making significant contributions in research, with important practical implications, he has become an outstanding leader of a Division committed to understanding and meeting the needs of its customers. As President of the Statistical Society, he clearly sits at the top of his profession in Australia.
He is an elected member of the International Statistical Institute and former member of the International Council of the Biometrics Society.
