Professor Dou, through his scientific ability and leadership, has established a research group that is recognised to be amongst the world leaders in the understanding and development of high temperature superconductors (HTSC), which during the next decade may influence technology in a similar manner to the development of semiconductors.

Using a novel process, Professor Dou has produced long conductor wires and tapes of these materials capable of operating at critical current densities that are comparable to the best results reported anywhere in the world.

Professor Dou has already formed a significant network of international collaboration.
