Biography at time of election

At the time when Stuart Morgan started in the timber industry, there were no particle board factories in Australia. The pioneer plants overseas were few with the first commercial prototypes appearing after the second world War. Using his electrical and mechanical engineering background, he quickly blended new concepts with existing technology and produced Australia? s first veneered particle board factory·.
He designed, built and· commissioned factories that were interstate and internationally competitive and had positive social and economic effects in western Australia. The factories contributed to regional and national development with the present factories exporting to about ten countries and employing in excess of JOO people.
He was instrumental in the manufacture of one of the world's first waterproof particle boards and the first utilising a naturally occurring phenolic made from wattle tannin together with a termite treatment that was effective, cheap and simple.
He has been to the forefront in the promotion of technological excellence in industry and commerce. His appointment to various public colllITlissions and authorities has continued this thrust in the public area. His founding of Westintech Innovation corporation Ltd and its investment in new technology companies is an encouragement to emerging companies in the same area.
