Dr Forgan came to Australia from the UK in 1969 after gaining awards and
distinctions as a structural engineer. He showed his design and management skills as project director of successful developments including the MLC Centre, the high tech ABC Radio Complex in Ultimo and the bicentennary Darling Harbour.

In 1989 he became a consultant in the formative early days of the Australian Technology Park (ATP). A year later he became its CEO. The ATP is a $400 million development dedicated to expanding thelinks between universities and industry, leading to high export earning products and services and consequent employment opportunities through urban renewal in regional centres.
