Biography at time of election

Rozgonyi's innovative achievements cover a remarkable range of technologies. While his principal research and teaching have been in mining engineering, he has made commercially beneficial contributions to improving the efficiency of Fleissner drying of lignites and to removal of both organic and inorganic sulphur. He made significant improvements to deep direction-controlled drilling for in-situ gasification of coals also to rotary water jet mining of lignites and oil shales. He has written a book on extractive metallurgy and has worked on novel electrowinning of gold and the processing of deep sea nodules. He is building up several new research activities in his Wollongong faculty.
