Biography at time of election

Tristram Carfrae is a world leader in structural design. Now based in Sydney, he has engineered award winning buildings in Australia and overseas. Most notably, the Manchester City Stadium for the 2002 Commonwealth Games as Principle and Design Leader of Arup Associates, London.

His unswerving committment to good design demonstrates a mastery of excellent engineering and great architecture. His buildings consume less resources - materials, energy, time and money. Notable projects are - Sydney Football Stadium, Brisbane Exhibition Centre, Olympic Tennis Centre, RAS Exhibition and Olympic Sports Halls. Internationally, five buildings on which he had key roles have won Special Awards of the Institute of Structural Engineers, London - its premier accolade.
