Mr Clough has been responsible for the establishment and development of the Clough Engineering Group which employs some 250 engineers and is one of the most successful engineering contractors in Australia. It competes sucessfully in Australia, South East Asia and elsewhere. The group has twice won the Construction Achievement Award of the Australian Federation of Construction-Contractors. It is currently engaged in major contracts valued in total in excess of $300,000,000 - including one in Indonesia valued at $200,000,000.

Mr Clough who is a B.E. of the University of Western Australia and an MSc of the University of California, was awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Engineering of University of Western Australia in 1990. He is also a member of the Senate of the University of Western Australia.
He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1979, and an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1990.

He is a director of a number of important companies and vice-president of the Confederation of Australian Industry.
