Elevate aims to address inequities in STEM through comprehensive scholarships enabling more diverse women and non-binary people to access tertiary STEM education, professional skills development and STEM leadership opportunities with industry and academia.

About Elevate

ATSE’s Elevate: Boosting diversity in STEM program (“Elevate”) will award more than 500 undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships to women and non-binary people in STEM across the duration of the program. 

The Elevate program provides:
• A scholarship 
• Access to skill-building workshops  
• Access to peer mentoring and networking events  
• Access to 24/7 wellbeing and psychosocial support 

The program is funded by the Department of Industry, Science and Resources, with additional scholarship funding available through the Department of Defence, Commonwealth Bank, AirTrunk and Snowy Hydro Limited.

Program eligibility

Applicants are required to meet all three eligibility criteria:   

  • Identify as a woman or non-binary person 
  • Be enrolling as a domestic student at an Australian university
  • Be planning to undertake an eligible undergraduate STEM degree commencing in 2027  

 ATSE particularly encourages applications from individuals who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; individuals from regional, rural or remote areas; LGBTQIA+; individuals from culturally or linguistically diverse backgrounds; low-socioeconomic backgrounds; or those living with a disability. Diversity, inclusion, and achievement relative to opportunity will be considered in the assessment and selection process.
