Dr F John Ballard is a research scientist of high international repute, a technology entrepreneur and manager of considerable skill and achievement.

He has published 275 scientific papers and 10 patents; established and leads the profitable company GroPep Pty Ltd., and the very successful CRC for Tissue Growth and Repair.

CSIRO recognised him early on as one of their most talented researchers by promoting him to the level of Chief Research Scientist at age 39.

For the same reason his biochemist peers elected him President of the Biochemical Society and at various times awarded him all its Medals - the only scientist ever to be so honoured.
