Richard Kell chairs the consulting engineering firm, McMillan Britton and Kell (MBK), which specialises in major bridge design.

He is a former National President, Association of Consulting Engineers, Australia (ACEA). (1994-1996)

He has been a leader in the export of Australian professional services and responsible for hundreds of bridges throughout Asia.

MBK is presently designing the major cable stayed Batang Baram Bridge, Sarawak with a 220 metre main span . As National President of the (ACEA), he promoted the Professional Engineers Scheme ru1d oversaw its adoption by the NSW Government in 1995.

He was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1998 for "services to engineering, in the area of structural design and the construction of bridges, and for the export of engineering services to the Asia Pacific Region. "
