Distinguished Professor Vivian Tam FTSE
Green construction innovator
Distinguished Professor Vivian Tam’s research and inventions are contributing to a future low-carbon, circular economy. She is an award-winning researcher making substantial contributions towards the world’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Vivian and her team, alongside industry partners, invented CO2 Concrete, a product made with recycled aggregate injected with carbon dioxide. The performance of CO2 Concrete matches that of virgin concrete, but with 10% less cost, 50% fewer carbon emissions, and less waste sent to landfill.
Vivian has also developed a model to perform life-cycle analyses of green buildings – helping to lower carbon emissions and costs – and investigated sustainable construction materials with a view to commercialise.
